Ingredients
Tortilla: 4-6 small tortilla
Tofu:
dry mix - 1/3 cup AP flour, smoked paprika, cayenne powder, garlic powder, salt, black pepper
wet mix - 1/3 cup milk, 2 tbsp franks hot, 1 tbsp pickle juice
tofu marinade - smoked paprika, cayenne powder, garlic powder, salt, black pepper
chili oil - 1/2 tbsp smoked paprika, 1-2 tbsp cayenne powder, 1/2 tbsp garlic powder, 1/4 tbsp salt salt, 1/4 tbsp black pepper
Toppings: cabbage/coleslaw, pickles (i like sweeter pickles), ranch
Tofu:
2 hours before - take out your firm tofu (~ 4 oz) & place It in between cloth with something heavy on top to get rid of all the liquid
Once dry, cut the tofu into strips.
Cover in the following seasonings: smoked paprika, cayenne powder, garlic powder, salt, black pepper.
Wet Mix:
Mix 1/3 cup milk, 2 tbsp franks hot, 1 tbsp pickle juice.
Dry Mix:
Mix together 1/3 cup AP flour, 1/2 tbsp smoked paprika, 1/2 tbsp cayenne powder, 1/2 tbsp garlic powder, 1/4 tbsp salt, 1/4 tbsp black pepper.
Add a spoon of the wet mix and stir
Chili Oil:
Mix 1/2 tbsp smoked paprika, 1-2 tbsp cayenne powder, 1/2 tbsp garlic powder, 1/4 tbsp salt salt, 1/4 tbsp black pepper
Set to the side. Once done with frying oil, add the hot oil to the spices.
Fry the tofu:
Take the tofu and drench It in the dry mix.
switch to wet mix, and back to dry mix. Make sure everything is covered w flour.
set aside on a rack to get rid of excess flour.
repeat with the rest.
Heat a small pan with oil 1/3 cup neutral oil - medium heat.
to shallow fry
Once hot, add in enough tofu to fit the pan
fry for 1 min or until its golden brown & crispy
then flip.
make sure all sides of the tofu are crispy & remove to a rack to cool and get rid of excess oil. (put paper towel underneath)
Once all tofu is fried, take the oil & transfer to the bowl with the spices to make the chili oil. (as shown in youtube video)
Coat the tofu pieces in the chili oil.
Assemble Taco
Take the tortilla and heat up in the pan
Add in the tofu, sweet pickles, cabbage/coleslaw, & ranch !
